The label is an integral part of the packaging
When it comes to recycling, the best label is one made from the same material as the packaging itself.
For example, in polypropylene packaging, changing the PP label to a paper one makes it more difficult to identify the packaging material in the renewal process. The trend is towards larger and larger labels, but this means the label can prevent the plastic packaging from being identified and thus utilised as a material.
On the other hand, a plastic label also makes it more difficult to identify the material of the package if it is of a different material, such as when a polypropylene sticker is affixed to polyethylene film, for example.
